The Recruiters Network - 1st March
Please don't expect me to be very articulate today. Last night was the second of our re-instated recruiters network events. Despite being a light-weight and not taking full advantage of the free drinks provided by Viadeo (thank you) , I'm still feeling a little worse for wear.
Thanks to the enormous efforts of my co-hosts, Broadbean, the event was a fabulous success (special thanks to Ricky and Tarah for doing their bit so incredibly well) . Once we have the photos and video of the presentations I'll post the links here. Before I go for a kip under my desk I want to say thanks to all the recruiters and suppliers who supported us by coming along last night. It was great to see some long term supporters there (including the ever reliable Lee Biggins, Marc Jones, Don McIntosh and Stephen O'Donnell) as well as loads of people I've worked with over the years and a huge amount of new faces. In the small pool of UK bloggers there were four of us there; Mike Taylor, Stephen Fowler and Matt Alder and me . It was a shame that Tim Elkington and Alan Whitford didn't make it as we would have been the Superb Six (was that a series by Enid Blyton?) .
Anyway, the highlights of the evening for me were:
- The Bank of Beanland vouchers the guys at Broadbean had printed for the free drinks
- The speakers session (Joe Slavin, Matt Alder and "sweary" Dan McGuire) - especially when Joe started to take a tumble off the back of the stage.
- The "goodie bags" with pens, note pads, calculator, mugs and other useful information.
The lowlight was probably the fact that attendees had to queue right down the stairs to get in (we'll try and sort a better system for next time). AND Thames Trains not running the train I was planning to catch the last 30 miles of my journey.
Now, we just need to start planning the summer event......
Update: Thanks to the efforts of the hard working (and as you can see from the photo here; lovely) Tarah and photographer Iain (who is almost as lovely) the photos from the event are now available to view on the website.
Will bring news of video footage next week I hope.
