Workcircle Widget
I think I might have scored a first. I've just added a Workcircle Widget to my blog (a widget is a third party item that gets embedded into a web page - not to be confused with the nitrogen widget in cans of Boddingtons). I was sure that technology guru Alan Whitford would already have a job widget, or maybe Peter Gold or Stephen Fowler. However, it looks like I'm the first recruitment blogger in the UK with one.
When I was at the Enhance Media conference back in February Gautam Godhwani from Simplyhired.com was talking about the newly released Simplyhired job widget. I thought it sounded like a great idea (I even put a big * in my notes to remind me to investigate). However, their job board is very US focussed. With Workcircle they are only targeting UK bloggers. Obviously users are tracked so it'll be interesting to see how successful blog widgets will be in driving traffic to workcircle's jobs.
The problem I have is that in my endeavours to maintain independence I will have to add widgets for any other UK job boards that create them. Watch out for Louise's Job Board Widget World!
Hi, Louise, you could add Trovit Jobs' widget ;-)

Hi Louise & blogfans,
The widgets are partly done for search engine optimisation purposes. By producing a widget, a jobsite benefits from lots of extra inbound links that go towards boosting their Google listings and in turn will generate extra visitors.
This looks like a good innovation by Work Circle and we hope it will be succesful for them (our jobs are syndicated there currently).
