Recently I had an online demo of ProScreen from CSi – (Commercial Security International Ltd). CSI is a London based company which provides corporate security and investigation support to private, commercial and government clients.
Their ProScreen product is an automated web based pre-employment screening tool and investigation service which can help to identify unethical employee activity or fraud. ProScreen is essentially a Know-Your-Candidate (KYC) checker.
The first step as a client is to confirm that the candidate is happy to have their details checked (you simply tick a box for this once authorisation has been sought). Then you enter details of the candidate. These can be basic (name, date of birth and address) or more in depth to further validate identity (including passport number, driving licence details and electricity supply number).
The most basic search checks against the electoral register and land deeds but there are optional searches too for Bank of England Sanctions, OFAC Sanctions List (a list of suspects set up by the US government), Disqualified Director register, Insolvency Register and database of UK Directorships.
You simply click "go" and the results are returned immediately. The document is split into sections, based on the searches you have requested, and anything that doesn't match up is highlighted. The document can be downloaded as a PDF to share with your client or keep on the candidate file. The only part of the search that isn't automated is County Court Judgements which are done manually by the team at ProScreen. The whole process from data entry to receipt of results only took 5 minutes.
Each candidate search costs between £2.70 and £9.00. The system uses credits and each one costs up to 45p. You can either buy a certain number of credits up front or "pay as you go". There is no monthly fee, no set up cost and no minimum spend.
Additionally they have an internet mining tool which searches the "deep web" (search engines, social networking sites, etc). However, as with all of these tools it can't access sites (such as FriendsReunited) which require password access. The cost of a candidate search is two credits (90p). The tool has additional filtering options so you can check about the use of specific "relevant" words or companies as required. For example a pharmaceutical company might search potential candidates by name and put in filtering terms such as PETA, animal testing, etc.
I've looked at quite a few CV validation services in the past but never KYC systems like these. I found this very slick to use and the biggest advantage is that you don't have to buy a load of credits up front. Especially useful if you don't do these sort of checks every day.
If you want to know more visit the site or call Matt Holland on 020 7553 7960. The added bonus is that Matt has said they will offer discounts to my blog readership - just mention this is where you saw the information.
