LinkedIn competing with the job boards?

When putting together this week's newsletter I noticed that LinkedIn are in Hitwise's weekly top 10 rankings for Employment sites. (on checking with Eva at Hitwise I found that somehow I had missed their first entry into the top 10 back on August 11th)

So it looks like LinkedIn are becoming vacancy advertising competition for the likes of Guardian Jobs, Reed and Monster.  Whilst I know plenty of recruiters who use LinkedIn for name sourcing (and business development) I've not had any feedback on making a direct placement from using their "hiring and recruiting" functionality.  I will ask around my network and report back with my findings.
