How to Write a Great Business Blog

Busblog

A couple of weeks ago I took part in "A Brand You World - 2007 Global Telesummit".  There were quite a few sessions I thought looked interesting. However, I only had time for one so dialled in for "How to Write a Great Business Blog" by Debbie Weil

Debbie is the author of The Corporate Blogging book and works as a blogging consultant. The seminar was really valuable and what's great is that you can listen to it yourself via an MP3 download.  In fact you can listen to recordings of all the sessions from the personal branding seminar.

A few of the main things I took from Debbie's seminar were:

  • Package what you write into "the 5 mistakes to avoid", "top 7 lessons learnt", etc.  This will make them easy to read and create a entry that other bloggers will want to link to.
  • Always link - back to things you wrote previously, an article you read, a wikipeadia entry.  Make each article into a little resource of the subject.
  • Give posts a title which will allow the post to be found by relevant keywords on Google, entice readers to the post and increase your search engine optimisation.

You may also like to download Debbie's "Top 7 Tips to Write an Effective Business Blog" which you can get for free  when you subscribe to her  e-newsletter

Watch for massive improvements on this blog as I implement Debbie's strategies!
