I'm on Facebook - Now What?
Jason Alba, of JibberJobber recently sent me a pre-release copy of his new book (co-authored with Jesse Stay) entitled " I'm on Facebook -- Now What?".
I have really wanted to get the time to read it properly. However, there's a load of stuff going on here which is keeping me busy all my working hours (plus some!). Anyway, I've managed to have a speed-read through quite a lot of the book and what I've seen so far looks great. The book is written for individuals more than for businesses (in our context read jobseekers rather than recruiters). However, there is a chapter on business usage which looks at things like analysis of competitor activities, creating applications and groups, having a corporate presence and a facebook strategy.
Jason has blogged a little about his book and mentions that there is a dedicated blog for the book. It's really worth checking out that blog as there is some useful content about using Facebook and other social networks.
As I have let Jason down and not had a chance to properly read his book I can't offer a review. However, I can cheat and share someone else's:
""I'M ON FACEBOOK, NOW WHAT?" is a thorough-but-usable dive into what a new user of Facebook might want to know. I can see this book being great to hand to a friend or coworker who wants to get involved in social networks, but really isn't sure which next steps to take. Jason and Jesse have created a great guide that will deliver value to new users, and might even teach a more seasoned user a thing or two."

Jason has said he'll drop me a note when the book is available to purchase - so I will update here when that happens (hopefully by then I'll have managed to finish reading my copy!)

Louise, you certainly have not let me down :) Thanks for sharing this with your readers, and I'll send you the link when it's up!

Hi Louise,
I just thought I'd share my comments about facebook.
We recently employed a new developer who we found by posting a question in a Java group on Facebook. So it can definately be used to find / offer jobs. ( we are not an agency, it was an internal position )
Best regards,
Chris
