Where's the New Year Cheer for Recruiters?

I'm back to work today after a lovely Christmas break; feeling refreshed and ready to knuckle down to some hard work.  However, as I look through my google alerts for "recruitment" I see nothing but doom and gloom.

Firstly in an article on the Finance Markets website the CIPD say "prospects for the UK job market is at its worst for 10 years".  Then over on the BBC site a similar article is entitled "Bleak prospects for UK job market".

Try as I might I couldn't find any cheering news.  Where are those motivational stories to get recruiters out from under their duvets and back into the driving seat?  Whilst I search for something more upbeat I offer you this little nugget of humour from Recruitment Juice - just click on the "eye of the tiger" video clip link.

We like to look at it as the year in which the not-so-good will be pushed out of the picture. Either that or we're all in trouble :-( Happy New Year Louise!
