Recruitment Networking Evening last week
It was our first networking event of 2008 last Thursday and it went really well. We were at Dust Bar near Farringdon and the place was packed with around 150 recruitment professionals. Alan Whitford did a great job as a last minute stand in for Matthew Jeffrey from Electronic Arts (who has been more than apologetic for unavoidably letting us down). Dan (of Broadbean) showed an example of a poor candidate recruitment experience (and got a fair bit of heckling - which I sure he didn't mind) and Alan talked about how a great candidate experience should look. Mike Walmsley kindly offered a prize of £1000 worth of recruitment training material which was won by Chris Hauge of Microdec.
I spoke with a number of people who said it was the best networking event they'd been to and I came into the office this morning to this fab (and unprompted) testimonial "The event was hugely successful - highly informative and rather overwhelming with regards to networking possibilities [and that is a GOOD thing - ran out of business cards in the first hour - incredible!!]"
I'd like to give a public thank you to Hannah and Tarah from Broadbean who did a great job of organisation and "door management" as usual. Also, a big thank you to Lee from CV-Library and Ricky from Broadbean, both of whom were singing the praises of UK Recruiter (I'd like to think this wasn't just as a result of the drink!) to anyone who would listen. Finally, thank you to all of you who came to the networking (especially to those die-hards who support us come rain or shine; David Morgan, Mike Taylor, Stephen O'Donnell, Wendy Cowell, Lee Biggins and Alan Whitford spring to mind.)
It seems likely that the next networking event in London will be on Thursday 15th May. However dates for our regional events in Manchester and Glasgow are not yet firmed up (hopefully one will take place in April). We'll be updating the website as soon as possible.
Also, photos from the event will hopefully be uploaded on the site later today.
