Last Thursday was our last London networking event of 2008. I think I can safely say it was a huge success. The venue we now use is fabulous, Joe Slavin was a superb presenter (and such a lovely bloke), the NORAs awards went off without a glitch (well done to Stephen O'Donnell at Alljobs) and a seriously large amount of networking took place.
It was a great night for me for many reasons. It was great to catch up with regulars; although a fair few were at the Recruitment Conference in Amsterdam organised by Alan Whitford and Keith Robinson (I plan to blog about that later this week). Due to the awards taking place at the event we got a whole new batch of attendees who probably didn't even know the events existed - so we hope to see them again in the New Year. It was also a real joy for us to be able to work with Stephen O'Donnell to help host the awards ceremony for the NORAs. I have been a judge for seven of the eight years that Stephen has been running these awards (only missing one year due to a badly timed birth!) and know how much effort goes into setting up and running them.
Obviously I'm hugely proud of the networking events. Since we re-instated them, in conjunction with Broadbean, they have gone from strength to strength. We are meeting later this week to sort the schedule for 2009 but our plans are to continue with the strong base of London events, to expand further our regional events and to look at running events with other recruitment partners (rather like we did with Stephen for the NORAs).
You can see photos from last week's event here and some specific ones of the awards here.
The winners of the National Online Recruitment Awards 2008 were:

Sorry I missed this one, I have heard they are great networking events.
