I have a recruitment friend with a very dry sense of humour. He sent me an email which I thought made perfect sense, and a rather nice blog post.
One of the ladies in the office was talking about a male friend, in a relationship, who was being pursued by a single female in a quite relentless fashion. This met with universal contempt from everyone else except for me. I suggested that from a moral perspective she was technically doing nothing wrong and was up to him to rebuff her advances. If you are single you are driven by biological and social instincts to connect with the best partner for your situation!
I then expanded this into an executive search analogy which I hope you find amusing (not sure anyone here thought it was too funny – especially those who have been married recently!!):
Executive Search style dating agency:
1. Clients - Types
Single, attractive and intelligent/interesting = blue chip client with good brands, innovations and market share
Single, attractive and dim = client with good brands but fiscally problematic or unresponsive to market
Old but rich looking for young and attractive – client with dubious credentials such as a tobacco firm
In all cases individuals like clients could be in different situations.
i. Actually single – client with clear obvious role
ii. In relationship but trying to get out – client with internal changes or redundancy issues, ads to be kept vague with no names!
Etc – Think you can see where this is going!?
2. Candidates – Talent Pools
Active and single on dating sites, in clubs etc – Candidates found on job boards, applying to ads. In both cases not the best of the best just best of what's available and who wants that?
Single and inactive, not looking – Taking a career break, private reasons etc. Possibly attractive but questionable motivation or reasons for being single.
In a relationship, not looking – Passive candidate need to be removed from client with caution
In a relationship and looking – Need to approached with caution don’t use client (home) number etc!
Think this concept could make some money in the dating world! What do you think?
Could offer temps; one night stands or escorts!
Interims; Break up or rebound options for longer term relationship recovery options.
Well, it made me laugh!
