I have to admit this isn't the first time I've come across this type of "anti agency" policy on a website. However, it is possibly the harshest example (thank you to Sally for pointing this out to me)...
"Our experience is that most agencies are concerned only with their potential fee, and have no concern for the candidate or our company. They claim ludicrous fees, for little or no added value and often send unsuitable CVs."
Any recruiter not put off by this and considering sending over a CV might want to read on to the fees section...
"A fee will only become payable to the Agency if a candidate submitted by them is successful and commences employment with CherSoft Ltd in the vacancy applied for within 6 months of the first introduction of the candidate to CherSoft Ltd by the Agency. The fee to the Agency will be 2% of the candidates starting salary."
Mmmm 2% - start speccing in those CVs!
In light of today's date I feel I ought to point out that this ISN'T an April's Fool!
Blimey!! Just wondering if the 'person in charge' of recruitment has had a bad recruitment agency experience by any chance!!!!
This isn't just extreme, it is pathetic and counter productive.
What sort of company do they portray to prospective employees?
This is the advice they give candidates on the same website:
If you are a candidate...
Think twice before letting an agent submit your CV.
Any money we pay to the agent is a reduction in the money available to pay you!
If we have to choose between two candidates, and all other things being equal, we will choose the direct candidate every time.
However they do advertise a benefit of working there as having "very good coffee in the office" - WOW they must good to work for then!!!
If there are any agencies mad enough (2%??) then they are obviously desperate indeed - working for idiot clients like this is just futile!!

Pathetic.
Recruitment companies care about their fee just as much as software companies care about the price ticket on their software.
They are a business who need to survive and make profit, just like any other business.
This arrogant company have no right to damn an entire industry in the public domain.

It probably explains why their "People" page (http://www.chersoft.co.uk/company_people.htm), is blank!!

Interesting policy. Why not just have a simple "we don't deal with agencies" line? All that wasted effort
On the whole, policies reflect the overall thinking of organisations. If a job seeker found that policy, what would they think of that organisation? Probably if you disagreed with them on something else, you'll get the same short shrift.
I suppose therefore it is not surprising according to this user forum survey, their market share of not to large market is - 0%. Not employing the best or being flexible about where they come from has its price!

I will teel you a good one. A firm that I worked for got about 100 CVs sent into them. Didn't employ anybody, because they weren't ready and 6 months later started to get in touch with the candidates directly. No fees were paid.
Mind you there was a 50% turnover in staff, do you need to ask what it was like to work there !

Seems to me they have had a very bad deal with someone
These are the sorts of companies we should all stay clear of.
These are in fact very easy to spot.
1. They dont accept exclusivity - even for short periods
2. They send jobs to every agent under the sun( i had one client recently - a major construction Co ) that sent a job to over 40 - yes 40 agents - they used cc not bcc on an emails
3. They are very difficult to get feedback from.
I know its difficult now but ONLY work if you can with clients that
1. Allow exclusivity - even for 2 weeks.
2. Give you positive feedback i.e. they talk to you
3. They are happy with your sevice - asking them if you are providing a good service is agood starting point.
Dont let narrow minded companies like this get to you - they wont be in business very long !!!!

The reason the recruiter pays the agency is because it cuts down on their costs - advertising for jobs, interviewing large numbers of candidates, reading through hundreds of CVs etc etc. To threaten to forward on these costs to the candidate and not hire them is ridiculous.

I hate to post a counter viewpoint to other (actually, I've got to be honest, I thrive on it) but this is just SOME unscrupulous agencies creating a rod for ALL our backs.
Put simply, the person in charge of this company has had one or several bad experiences with recruiters. May have been as a jobseeker or employer, or both.
This has led to this strict stance.
In my opinion, this isn't an attitude problem, it's a perception problem. And unfortunately it's the rest of us that pay for it.
