Interesting one Twitter, its growing in its popularity perhaps until the next best thing comes along?

I can't help but feel that (despite the hype) it could be just the latest fad.

Does the world want to know (or care) what Stephen Fry thinks stuck in a lift or that its time he had a cup of tea?

But then again, we are in a world full of people that would rather text message than talk, so maybe Stephen Fry is right to be twittering away to himself all day, in the hope that some of his followers are interested.

As i see it, you need to ignore a lot of background noise to get to the real content with twitter. In order to build up enough volume for twitter to be viable to you as a resource as a recruiter you need to dedicate a lot of time to it - im not sure if the effort to reward ratio is high enough, but for those that like text messaging and have the time to do it - maybe it is worth the effort?

Based on research at Hitwise i believe they found that many twitter users were of an older demographic than facebook and it certainly has its fans.

Meanwhile, as one poster on UKrecruiter commented "you need a lot of twits to follow you" - i think this was a nicer way of putting it, rather than David cameron who today said "too many twits can make a tw@t" see
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/07/29/cameron_tweets/

Meanwhile, i do have a twitter account - http://twitter.com/Job_Search if anyone wants to follow, i dont make too many twits on it, so hopefully im in the clear as far as David Cameron is concerned :)

Richard
